The devastating earthquake of 2015 which nearly killed 9,000 people and left around 22,000 people injured, an immediate action was needed. Yts actively mobilized its 600 volunteers for the relief. Among our volunteers we aligned a team to identify the specific needs, so that we could provide the relief as swiftly/ effectively as possible. For the relief we conducted activities i.e. Mobile Medical Camp (550 people), Distribution of Food items and Clean Water, providing Tarps, and Counseling teachers (60 secondary level teachers) to handle traumatized students.

We have been able to help 816 families through our relief work. We worked on providing postnatal and antenatal care to lactating and pregnant women, providing those basic stuffs such as basic diet i.e. rice, lentils, pulses, soya nuggets, salt, sugar and oil. Nourishing foods i.e. sprouted beans, sesame seeds, thyme and mustard oil. We also provided clothing i.e. petticoats and diapers. We worked towards improving the sanitation in the temporary shelters of earthquake affected people by cleaning the rubbles and educating them about the dangers of communicable diseases and measures to counter them. This was made possible through a volunteer base of over 500 committed people ready to pitch in when called upon. The YTS earthquake reconstruction projects have reached some of the worst affected areas like: Sindhupalchowk, Gorkha, Makwanpur, Nuwakot, Dhading, Kavre, Rasuwa and the outskirts of the Kathmandu valley.
